Muwan Palassa keeps only a handful of keys: the Luxury Chalets, built for two, and one Family Chalet under a wide roof. Lime plaster, old timber, lamplight — and the gates of Minneriya National Park ten minutes up the road.
The chalets — 05:48 · birdsong before any alarm
You will not hear the road. You will hear the dawn shift change.
First light · The idea of the rooms
The chalets were raised from the landscape’s own materials — clay, lime, timber the colour of shade — and set apart under old trees, so each one keeps its own silence.
There is no corridor here, no lobby, no key card on a lanyard. You walk to your chalet along a sand path, and the jungle closes politely behind you. Days begin on the verandah and end there too; everything in between — the drives, the village table, the pool of lamplight after dinner — is arranged around the herds’ own clock.

Two doors. Choose by how many binoculars travel with you.
Lamplight · The two chalets
Both share the same bones — lime, timber, a deep verandah — and the same ten-minute run to the park. The difference is how much expedition fits inside.

the trip is for two. Early gates, long verandah evenings, dinner at whatever hour the drive allows — and nobody else’s schedule in the room.
the herd travelling with you has calves of its own. Everyone under one roof, nobody in one another’s way — and the verandah becomes the family table.
The verandah — 07:10 · plans over tea
The season is short, and the lodge is smaller.
