For some two thousand years this plain has been engineered around water — vast reservoirs the old kings raised, and the life that gathers on their shores. The lodge sits in the middle of it.

Day 01
Day one — arrive slowly
Settle into your chalet, walk the tank bund at dusk with the binoculars, and take your first dinner from the clay pots. Let the jungle reset your clock.

Day two — the classic
Polonnaruwa’s stones in the cool of the morning, then the elephants at Minneriya as the light goes long. The day the whole trip is built around.

Day three — go deeper
Dawn with the birds, the village table at noon, and Kaudulla in the afternoon if the trackers say the herds have moved north.
